Seraïna at Belle Île (South Bretagne, 1976)

This beautiful French design, aluminium 'Romanée' (10,50 meter, Philippe Harle architect, Chantier Pouvreau La Rochelle France) was our castle for a cruising trip from La Rochelle to Auray (Morbihan) that year of 1976.

Boy did we need to learn about the tides and passage times and spinnaker sailing.. Our Mediterranean long-life sailing experience helped but a few miles out here! Everything was new.

I also remember cooking a great Sole Menière on board anchored in a Belle Ile bay - to touch-ground at around 1:00 AM and leave the place in a hurry by night...to reach The Morbihan passage to Auray slaloming between the sand banks and against the current.

All this to be a good preparation for my Écume de mer (1975), Jean-marie Finot, architect. The Écume de mer was Finot's first boat after working at Philippe Harle's.

Entre le Romanée et l'Écume de mer: un petit air de famille.
